I had never stayed at a Fairfield BUT moving forward, I'll add this to my Marriott list! The staff was awesome and so welcoming! Made the check in enjoyable after a LONG drive. Got to my room and it was perfect! Clean and super comfortable. I was so impressed, I booked ahead another week when I return to Columbus! The bar was super friendly and relaxing! Looking forward to my week stay!
Dirty hotel that doesn’t change sheets and front desk agent tried to rip me off.
I stayed last night (1/6/2024) and both rooms I was given were dirty.
The first room had 2 hairs in the bed, one behind a pillow and one on the sheets more in the middle of the bed once you took the cover off. Gross.
We were given a different room. Those sheets were fine, so we went to sleep. In the morning I saw a hair in the bathtub and a pubic hair on the lid of the toilet seat.
I used a third party app to book a room with a King bed. My plans changed during the day and when I arrived, I asked if it was possible if I could get a 2 queens instead of king. She said instead of $134, it would be $143 (or something like that). I was confused because I had already told her I used a third party app and she was looking at my reservation. She said to go ahead and put in my credit card for $170. I was like what?? Is the security deposit $170? She said I would get “some” of the money back but did not tell me how much of it was the security deposit. I said I just want my prepaid reservation. Then I asked if I had to put a security deposit down and she said no. So, that means she tried to trick me into paying for a whole new room altogether. She did end up giving me the two (dirty) beds- room 216. When I came back down later, I overheard the security deposit was $20. So she was going to charge me $150 for a new room when all I had asked was if I could get 2 beds instead of a king on my original prepaid reservation. And when I asked her about the $170, she was evasive.
Don’t stay here.
For an airport hotel it’s middle of the road.
Our first room was extremely dirty with stains all over the sheets and a dirty toilet.
To be fair the front desk did move us to a different room when we pointed these out and that room was much better but getting a dirty room at first really put us off.
The complimentary breakfast is pretty pathetic to be honest. A few hot items like dry turkey sausage and a some bacon and what I assume would normally be eggs but the two days we stayed there we never saw any eggs. You can get some cereal and there are some bagels as well.
For the price you’re paying for the location, the hotel anywhere else would be 99 or less a night and not the 220 we paid.
The first floor we were on was very loud with beer bottles in the hallway. The second room we got on the 4th floor was quiet so not sure what was going on with the 2nd floor but the hotel wasn’t doing anything about it.
It's a brand new hotel, but not well built. Room air handler sounds like it's about to fall off the wall. Toilet seat is missing parts. Beds are fine and everything is clean. Walking distance to the airport is a big plus. and they offer cheaper parking than any of the lots if you stay even one night.
Amusingly, the elevator design is so stupid they had to label the buttons, though this is more a review of Schindler. Who designs elevator buttons to not look like buttons? The elevator chime is painful to listen to as well.
The rooms were clean and service from staff was great but had no hot water to bathe in. No hot water when we checked in and then no hot water when we left. Also no hot breakfast because someone called in that morning and due to low staff they could not make breakfast a priority. I felt really bad for the people that did show up because they were so kind and tried to be helpful. I was even moved to another room in the event that it may have been a faulty shower head but no. Still no hot water. My little girls and I went to a "shower" without being able to shower ourselves. Still waiting to hear back from the Manager.
I arrived around midnight to find that there was no one at the desk to check us in. 3 other patrons came in exasperated saying that had been calling for an hour trying to get a shuttle pick up and ending up having to take a taxi. Another guy came and had to walk from the airport. The one guy that was there said the front desk associate left and we had to wait until a manager arrived to check us in. It took another 30 minutes for a manager to come, and bless her heart she was apologetic and got us checked in. Never received any other acknowledgement of this disaster, until they called me to "collect" on my balance from that night. Clearly this is not a well run property, and I won't be stepping foot in here ever again.
Stayed here while visiting Columbus. We did not fly in, rather drove. We asked ahead of time for a lower room as the reviews here on Google suggest the lower rooms are quiet. We received a room on floor 4 (Top Floor). I can attest that floor 4 rooms are not super quiet. Even with the AC fan running non-stop you can easily still hear the roar of those jet engines. Despite the fact that there are 2 elevators, only one was running while I was there. Made for some longer wait times than usual. This location does have a nice work out room and pool. The indoor pool closes at 10pm and there isn't much light while it's dark outside. They have the usual drinks and snack stations in the lobby. They do have adult beverages you can buy here also, however only if the bar located in the lobby isn't open. They complimentary breakfast was okay. They didn't seem to have a lot of checking on them during our stay as everyday something was empty and never got refilled while I was eating. I watched guests staying there filling the utensils after rummaging around in the cabinets to find them and napkins as they were empty. The staff seemed fine, if you have an interaction with them. Parking filled up from time to time.
All in all, was just okay. Probably would choose another Mariott location if I drive in again. This would work great for people with flights.
Being a Marriott property, the Fairfield Inn and Suites is a reliable place to stay for a good night's sleep (great comfortable bedding!), clean and nice facilities, and wonderful hospitable staff. Amara took care of welcoming and checking in my son and his family last evening when an airline company I shall not name in this review changed the reservations for his family of 5 (including a 14-month old!) to California from 1:30 p.m. to 5:45 a.m. instead! :-( I commend Amara for her kindness and her professionalism. We never stay in a non-Marriott property unless there is not one available where we are travelling. We're that loyal!
